What Is DOCMaker?

DOCMaker is an application for the MacintoshΓäó which creates stand-alone, self-running document files. It features ΓÇÿscrollableΓÇÖ and ΓÇÿre-sizableΓÇÖ windows, graphics, varied text styles and fonts, and full printing capability. The stand-alone files are self-executing applications which you may distribute to others to read and print. No other application is required! This gives you the ability to distribute documents and information widely with no knowledge of the end-usersΓÇÖ Mac configuration or software.
With DOCMaker you may create up to 60 separate, 32K chapters within each document. Every chapter may contain up to 60 graphics. You may name every chapter uniquely; it will appear in the Contents menu. You may add a table of contents and a find feature for the readers to quickly jump to selected sections. Each chapter may print separately. DOCMaker itself, will open any TEXT file or existing DOCMaker document. DOCMaker will also open and convert AppleΓÇÖs TeachText files for saving as stand-alone documents. ΓÇ£Hot PicturesΓÇ¥ act like buttons within the documents for accomplishing such things as playing sounds, showing QuickTimeΓäó movies, and jumping to other applications.
Files may be added to a document by using the Append File feature so that your existing documentation may be merged into a single stand-alone document. DOCMaker uses the Claris™ XTND importing standard to import styled text from applications such as MicroSoft Word™ and MacWrite™. DOCMaker also takes full advantage of text styles including fonts, faces (bold, italics, underline, shadow and outline) and specified colors for those so equipped. You may define text styles by name and use them when you need. And when you’re done, you may add a customized “About My Product…” menu and dialog to the final stand-alone document.
DOCMaker is a great way to distribute information on disks, networks and bulletin board services.

If you really look at the public domain and shareware products available for the MacintoshΓäó, youΓÇÖll see a tremendous wealth of interesting, fun, enlightening and useful packages. Those packages would not be there if it werenΓÇÖt for the inquisitive and hard-working, independent ΓÇÿhackersΓÇÖ among us who just canΓÇÖt see why a computer has to be difficult, or expensive, to be good.
